The first few months since Donald Trump became President have been stunning. It is hard to keep up with what is going on--and more importantly, what it means. I have therefore created this blog as a place to focus on specific Trump initiatives and thoughts on those initiatives--the good, the bad, and (more commonly so far), the ugly. I will try my best to be fair, but I will speak from my experiences and point of view.

So who am I? I am a retired Big Law attorney in Washington, D.C., whose practice focused on national security and federal grants and contracts. In my earlier career, I was a member of the Arizona State Senate (as a Democrat) for two terms, and served in several political appointments in the federal government. I was was Chief Counsel of the White House Drug Czar's Office when General Barry McCaffrey was Drug Czar, and served as General Counsel of the Army (1999-2001) and General Counsel of the Air Force (2009-2013). I was a law clerk to Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. I am a moderate Democrat with friends across the political spectrum.

The title of the blog is a play on the famous work by Maimonides.

I am a mostly retired attorney and Senior Counsel at Arnold & Porter. I served as General Counsel of both the Army and Air Force, was a member of the Arizona State Senate, and had the honor of clerking for the great Justice Sandra Day O'Conner.
